The City of Fairfax Approves City Centre West, a 210,029-Square-Foot Mixed-Use Development in Fairfax, Virginia

Development to include luxury condos, retail spaces and commercial offices

Fairfax, Va. July 12, 2023Ox Hill Companies (“Ox Hill”), an innovative commercial real estate developer in Northern Virginia, is excited to announce the approval of City Centre West, a seven-story, 210,029-square-foot mixed-use development in Old Town Fairfax. The city council approved the application on July 11, 2023.

Situated on 1.78 acres at 10501 Main Street, City Centre West will feature 79 luxury condominiums and penthouses, 8,500 square feet of medical offices and 28,200 square feet of commercial office space. In addition, the building will feature a drive-through bank, ground-floor retail and restaurants and a .31-acre pocket park named Corner Public Plaza Park.

Ox Hill is partnering with internationally renowned New York City-based designer, Thomas Juul-Hansen, to develop plans for the entire building, including the architecture, interior design and furniture. Juul-Hansen, a leader in the industry, combines elegant simplicity with functionality and timeless designs. He and his team of experts have won numerous awards, including the coveted AIA New York Chapter Design Award.

City Centre West will feature high-quality materials, including facade linear Roman brick on the exterior to attain a sleek and modern look. Interiors will allow for a ton of natural light, including floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to private balconies in the condos. City Centre West will also incorporate sustainable design elements, such as EV chargers, a green roof and LEED and WELL certifications.

“As a brand-new mixed-use space designed by the distinguished Thomas Juul-Hansen, City Centre West represents an opportunity to bring urban sophistication to the suburban setting of downtown Fairfax,” says Chris Smith, managing principal of Ox Hill Companies. “We are thrilled to work with him and are confident our partnership will result in a residential mixed-use development that is stunning and highly functional.”

“We believe that architecture should be a harmonious dialogue between the past and the present. In the design of City Centre West, we selected quality materials that pay homage to the historic architecture, especially the use of brick. This was the first brick building I have ever designed, so it was an exciting challenge for me,” says Juul-Hansen. “The new building will coexist seamlessly with structures that have stood for two centuries, such as Fairfax’s federal buildings. For the interior spaces, we used the relationship between light and space to reflect the sophistication, energy and style of the area.”

In a proud partnership with Douglas Elliman, one of the largest luxury residential brokerage companies in the U.S., Ox Hill brought on the firm to be the sales team for the luxury condominiums and penthouses. This will be Elliman’s first development project in the Greater D.C. market. Jeremy Dalpiaz and his team The Legato Group at Douglas Elliman will be leading sales.

The condos feature spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom units and have well-appointed features, in-demand amenities and spacious terraces for outdoor living. Starting prices and square footage are to be determined.

The City Centre West groundbreaking is anticipated for March 2024 and project completion is expected by spring 2026. To view the development plans, visit
